The Cayman Islands
The Cayman Islands are located in the crystal clear waters of the western Caribbean. The Cayman Islands consist of three islands, Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. Located 480 miles south of Miami there are daily flights to Grand Cayman which is just a short 1 hour trip away. There are also daily flights to Cayman Brac and Little Cayman at very economical rates. The Cayman Islands are a British Overseas Territory which makes the Islands dependent of the United Kingdom.
The three islands have a total land of 100 square miles with Grand Cayman taking up ¾ of the total mass with 76 square miles. Cayman Brac is 14 square miles and Little Cayman 10 square miles.
At its widest point, Grand Cayman is 8 miles wide and is approximately 22 miles long with its maximum elevation being 60ft in the district of East End. Cayman Brac is home to the majestic Bluff which rises along the length of the island to 140 feet on its eastern tip. Cayman Brac is 12 miles long and just over a mile wide. The smallest of the three, Little Cayman, is only 10 miles long and a mile wide. Its home to one of the world’s best dive sites, Bloody Bay Wall. It is also a nesting ground for the Caribbean’s largest Red Footed Boobies population.
