Cayman Islands

Since the mid 1970’s the Cayman Islands have been an enchanting haven for sun seekers, divers, honeymooners and families seeking a safe, peaceful and relaxing Caribbean vacation destination. Today, the Cayman Islands have grown and matured into a world class business and vacation destination with all the amenities that discerning Caribbean island travelers expect and demand. From exquisite cuisine to luxury spas and championship 18-hole golf courses, the Cayman Islands offers it all.

Sitting about 480 miles south of Miami, Florida and 167 miles northwest of the island of Jamaica, the Cayman Islands is nestled in the beautiful turquoise waters of the western Caribbean sea and was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1503 and were originally called “Las Tortugas” for their abundance of green sea turtles.  The Cayman Islands consist of 3 islands, Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. Cayman Brac and Little Cayman is about 89 miles to the northwest of Grand Cayman and are separated from one another by a channel which is about 7 miles wide.

The Cayman Islands is a British Overseas Territory with a British Governor appointed by the UK Government. A 15 member Legislative Assembly is the only elected body, which also appoints the Leader of Government Business and 4 other Ministers to form the Cabinet. In 2010 the Honorable McKeeva Bush became the 1st Premier of the Cayman Islands.
